Relearning How to Let People In
Letting people in means risking disappointment, rejection, and vulnerability—things many people in recovery have experienced deeply.
So it makes sense that walls go up.
But healing rarely happens in isolation.
Letting people in doesn’t mean telling everyone everything. It means choosing safe people and taking small risks. Sharing a little more than you did yesterday. Letting someone see a part of you that isn’t perfectly put together.
Trust is rebuilt in layers, not leaps.
And yes, sometimes people will let you down. But sometimes, they won’t. And those moments can be powerful enough to reshape how you see connection.
